Masai Mara & Lake Nakuru Safari- 4 Days

Masai Mara & Lake Nakuru Safari- 4 Days

Overview

Spend two fantastic days in Kenya’s most famous national reserve: Maasai Mara, and one full day bird-watching and game driving through Lake Nakuru. Accommodations are ultra-modern, even though completely in line with nature. Truly fit for a relaxing Kenya safari away from city noises and crowded streets.

Day 1: Nairobi to Maasai Mara

We pick you up from Nairobi Airport in one of our safari vehicles and proceed towards the Mara, early morning. The drive should take about 6 hours, depending on road conditions. Along the way, we make a short stop at the Rift Valley for some rest and sightseeing.

Secure your place at the Mara Sopa Lodge (or camp of choice), and prepare for your first late afternoon game drive. Once you return, spend your time at leisure through the camp. Admire the view from high atop the Oloolaimutia Hills, take a romantic walk through the lush gardens, and especially take the chance to stargaze. Or, you could just have a good night’s rest for the next day.

Meal Plan: L, D

Day 2: The Full Mara Experience

Anyone pursuing a Kenya safari should take the chance to see the big 5 in action. Lions, leopards, buffalos, elephants and rhinos are all waiting for curious watchers on the plains of the Mara. You can enjoy a game drive in the morning, to catch the Mara sunrise in the Savannah. There will be another one later in the afternoon.

Or, why not extend the ride for the whole day? That option is open to all of our guests. Furthermore, take advantage of the (optional) hot air balloon safari experience. The bird’s eye view perspective is really something else – especially when you catch the wildebeest migration in full swing. Don’t miss the chance to see lions or other feline predators hunting undisturbed.

Whatever you do, local entertainment will be waiting for you back at the Mara Sopa. Rest well for your departure to Lake Nakuru the next day.

Meal Plan: B, L, D

Day 3: Mara to Lake Nakuru

Depart for the next step of your safari in Kenya – Lake Nakuru! We should arrive at Nakuru in time for lunch. Take the chance to unpack at the Lake Nakuru Sopa Lodge (or camp of your choice). Prepare for an afternoon game drive through the flamingo-filled natural reserve. Feast your eyes on the serene waterfalls, capture the beauty of the flora, or lose yourself in the gorgeous sunset over the lake.

Nakuru is a field-day for any bird enthusiast, as well. Over 400 species of birds make their home here. Of course, 56 mammal species can also be found here. Among them, we can count the endangered Rothschild giraffe, zebras, gazelles, and many others.

Needless to say, your exploration time can be quite exhausting. Return for a good night’s rest at the Lake Nakuru Sopa. Or, just enjoy the rest of your day in the activity rooms, with a dip in the swimming pool, or taking a peek at the selection of the gift shops provided.

Meal Plan: L, D

Day 4: End of Kenya Safari – Lake Nakuru to Nairobi

As your safari holiday in Kenya is approaching the end, you have the opportunity for a final game drive. Take note of the Rothschild giraffes and waterbucks grazing the plains. If you’re with the family, make a game out of bird-spotting for rare species! Blue little kingfishers are a usual favorite of the children.

We will then depart for a leisurely drive towards Nairobi, dropping you off at the airport for your flight home. Or at the hotel, you’re staying in Nairobi. The ride should take around 2 hours, and we will arrive in the capital at about 1 PM Kenya time.

Meal Plan: B

So, what are you waiting for? Book today and pack up for the full Kenyan experience!
